Armed Services Report Higher Retention, Recruiting for June
Department of Defense officials announced today that retention and recruiting rates were up for all of the armed services in the active and reserve components in June, which comes as great news after the unfortunate slump the services experienced this past spring. But acting deputy undersecretary for military personnel policy Bill Carr notes that the army “still [has] a long way to go,” in terms of meeting year-end recruiting goals as well as attracting recruits through the Delayed Entry Program. To encourage recruitment, the Department of Defense is asking Congress to bump the enlistment bonus up from $20,000 to $40,000.
