Bush to Announce Supreme Court Nominee Tonight
The White House announced today that President Bush will announce his nominee to replace Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court tonight at 9pm, leaving many speculating as to who the president will pick. Rumors are abound that he’ll choose Judge Edith Brown Clement of United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, in New Orleans, but others aren’t so sure. Judge Alice Batchelder from the Sixth Circuit has been tossed around, while others are looking to Judge Priscilla Owen, a fellow Texan. Republicans said yesterday that Bush was most interested in choosing a woman and Clement had an edge.
