Former Boston Herald sports columnist (and now apparently former Boston University instructor) Michael Gee allegedly posted this gem on sportsjournalist.com last week:

“Today was my first day teaching course 308/722 at the Boston University Dept. of Jounralis (sic). There are six students, most of whom are probably smarter than me, but they DON’T READ THE PAPER!!! Not the Globe, Times, Herald or Wall Street Journal. I can shame them into reading, I guess, but why are they taking the course if they don’t like to read

But I digress. Now here’s the nub of my issue. Of my six students, one (the smartest, wouldn’t you know it?) is incredibly hot. If you’ve ever been to Israel, she’s got the sloe eyes and bitchin’ bod of the true Sabra. It was all I could do to remember the other five students. I sense danger, Will Robinson.”

Is this the kind of instructor that parents and students plunk down tuition money for, one who ogles your daughter on the Internet between classes? Seems like some BU students might want to get their $40,000 back.

Update (by Zach): The girl with the “bitchin’ bod” has been identified by Boston Magazine as “Natalie Zfat, a University of Central Florida undergraduate taking classes at BU for the summer.”

…she learned about the comments not from the university, but from a classmate. Angry and offended, she dropped the course.

Gee, she says, “crossed the student/teacher line in a way that no student should ever have to deal with.”

Zfat says Gee’s comments were also largely wrong, even about how many students were enrolled in his class, “although now I wonder if there was another female if she would have been sexualized the way I was.”

As for what she refers to as “the sloe-eyed Sabra bit,” she says, “The reality is, I have hazel eyes and I’m from Brooklyn.”

Oh, yeah, one more thing, Zfat says: “I’m not a gorgeous woman half his age. I’m 19. Which makes me a third of his age.”
