Abu Grahib: Waldorf-Astoria for Terrorists?
War photographer Michael Yon writes about a recent incident in which the Deuce Four Strykers detained a terrorist in the infamous Yarmuk traffic circle, who told the soliders where he lived without hesitation. The troops arrived at the prisoner’s mother’s house to find her smiling, “as if to say, ‘That’s my boy!’” Sounds confusing, but the scary part is that Iraqi terrorists do not fear Abu Grahib prison - in fact, they joke about spending 5,000 Dinar per night to stay there. Yon writes, “It’s air conditioned, the showers are good, the food is good, and the water is good. The mother seemed to know this and it curled in contempt behind her smile.” When the soldiers began to interrogate the neighbors, they denied knowing him, yet clearly recognized him, and his mother seemed to beam even more as if the troops were making her terrorist son out to be a local hero.
