Troops Kill Six Enemy Combatants in Southern Afghanistan
Afghan and U.S. forces killed six insurgents after the militants opened fire on a base near Deh Rahwod in southern Afghanistan on Sunday. The troops responded to small arms and rocket attacks on the base with an air attack, leading to the seizure of a light machine gun, four assault rifles, and a radio. No allied forces were hurt in the attack.
Meanwhile, Afghan security forces recovered an ammunition cache including 172 rockets, 123 mortar rounds, and six tank rounds in a village northeast of Lakshar Gah. The Lakshar Bah reconstruction team said it was the largest they had seen in three months.
