Blogger says it’s bad in the Big Easy
Holed up in a high-rise, Interdictor reports:
In case anyone in national security is reading this, get the word to President Bush that we need the military in here NOW. The Active Duty Armed Forces. Mr. President, we are losing this city. I don’t care what you’re hearing on the news. The city is being lost. It is the law of the jungle down here. The command and control structure here is barely functioning. I’m not sure it’s anyone’s fault — I’m not sure it could be any other way at this point. We need the kind of logistical support and infrastructure only the Active Duty military can provide. The hospitals are in dire straights. The police barely have any capabilities at this point. The National Guard is doing their best, but the situation is not being contained. I’m here to help in anyway I can, but my capabilities are limited and dropping. Please get the military here to maintain order before this city is lost.
The inability of state and federal authorities to pour sufficient forces into the city is stunning and disappointing, but there are also reports that armed vigilantes are still trying to fend off looters, which is heartning.

Yes, New Orleans is by all means in a state-of-emergency, and YES the city for what it is known will be lost. But this is the twentieth century and we will re-build with time. Things do not happen over night. Understand that the country will do what it needs to do, President Bush will and has sent forces into the city. When all seems lost, stay positive, if you’re a real man then support do not fall or say that you are weak or put that gun to your head! Do you honestly think that we do not know the situation that is at hand? I have seen the autrocity which has occured, and know that many gangs and even average people are looting the stores and other homes. So you think President Bush has just been watching the news about the entire event? You need to understand that this man is PRESIDENT of this country-he has the most professional, intelligent officials on the job advising him as to what is going on in the South and WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. I will tell you that New Orleans will and should never be re-built in the location of which it stood for the past two-hundred years. This is a warning from mother nature that a city below sea level simply will not suffice!
IT IS THE CIVIC DUTY OF OUR COUNTRYMEN TO HELP OUR BROTHERS IN NEED IN NEW ORLEANS AND SURROUNDING AREAS IN EMERGENCY! DO NOT LAY THE ENTIRITY ALL UPON THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE; DO WHAT YOU CAN DO THROUGH THE RED CROSS OR EVEN YOUR LOCAL CHURCH TO FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN HELP!
