Strange Reaction of the Day

One can always count on Boston Herald’s columnist Margery Eagan to make room for left-wing voices of unreason, like Jennifer Braceras, who’s quoted as saying: “The Hispanic community has every right to feel betrayed…by [conservatives] mobilizing against Gonzeles without making the case for a different Hispanic…” Yeah, there was no Hispanic judge to conservatives liking. Right. But, wait, Braceras isn’t left-wing, she’s a Federalist Society Republican. What gives? Especially when considering this from the Washington Post:

Two members of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Jennifer C. Braceras and Abigail Thernstrom, joined by former commissioner Linda Chavez, sent a letter yesterday to all 100 senators urging them to focus only on judicial philosophy in evaluating court nominees.

She went from that to Latino-nationalism in two weeks? Or is left-wing kook Eagan misquoting her? Or is she quoting some other Jennifer Braceras?

Braceras is, of course, well aware of Hispanic alternatives to Gonzales, and she herself endorsed Miguel Estrada in a piece in National Review last December (in which she also made the case for appointing a non-judge - she did not mention Harriet Miers).
