Heroic subway shooting turns into tragic mistake

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

It sounded a bit too good to be true that British police had been able to spot and kill a suicide bomber in the subway. It turns out is was. The victim of the shooting was Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, of Brazil, believed to be an illegal alien working as an electrician in London.
The [...]

Sky News poll Muslim youth in UK

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

Some interesting answers in a poll by Sky News/Communicate Research.
Almost all - 91% - were against the bombings of July 7, but 2% agreed with what the suicide bombers did.
Around 88% thought there was no justification in the Koran for the bombings, but 5% thought there was.
The interviewees were asked to respond to the statement: [...]

College Instructor Fired for Lewd Comments

Wednesday, July 20th, 2005

Former Boston Herald sports columnist (and now apparently former Boston University instructor) Michael Gee allegedly posted this gem on sportsjournalist.com last week:
“Today was my first day teaching course 308/722 at the Boston University Dept. of Jounralis (sic). There are six students, most of whom are probably smarter than me, but they DON’T READ THE PAPER!!! [...]

The bill will [...]

I guess this would be another example of the President’s war on terror failure…

Monday, July 11th, 2005

The initial reports of the latest anarchist-initiated violence in San Francisco seemed oddly septic, with “protesters” (or maybe they were “demonstrators”) attacking two police officers. Michelle Malkin has a clarifying update.
Now I’m just waiting for ACLU to sue the cop for interefering with the forward movement of whatever object hit the officer in the [...]

Quitters don’t win, but they sure whine

Wednesday, July 6th, 2005

Hurl is not impressed by a William Raspberry column in Washington Post:
Earlier today I read a Washington Post column by William Raspberry titled No Clarity on Iraq, but I think what it clarifies most is the fact that the Left in America just doesn’t “get it.” Like all arguments and articles I have read [...]

City Hall readies its bulldozers after Kelo

Monday, June 27th, 2005

Expect more of this around the nation:
Boston City Council President Michael Flaherty said yesterday that Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s efforts to spur development of Fan Pier do not go far enough, and he again called on the city to consider seizing the South Boston waterfront property using its eminent domain power.
Flaherty originally suggested taking the [...]
